I have encountered issues with exporting SVG files:
surfaces are exported as tiles, the exported tiles are very small (and they also appear very small in the preview). With Arabesque, empty SVGs are exported (this also happened to me with the original version of Repper).
I’ve had the same have you had any luck with arabesque svg yet?
Sorry, I haven’t tried again yet.
Hi @carmen & @Lizzie_Mayne, thank you for flagging this. You are right, there are currently a few issues on the vector side of things.
- Arabesque not exporting properly: There is no workaround for this at the moment, but we will look into this and either try to fix it or temporarily disable the tiling
- Export always as tile, not surface: In the cases where you know exactly at what size you want to export and use the pattern, the surface option is indeed super handy. However, we often recommend people to use the tile export, as it gives you more flexibility afterwards when using your pattern in other graphics software or product printing services (most of which include a repeat-tile option). So while of course the surface export should work and we’ll look into it, I can actually recommend using tile export whenever suitable!
(side note on surface export in vector: some vector files can get pretty “heavy” quick when there is lots of detail in the vector. Whereas a 5-10MB JPEG image is considered totally normal for print purposes, a similar sized vector can get sluggish when viewed in the browser or vector graphics software. This is another reason to use tile export whenever possible: keeping your vector exports as small as possible and thus more performant when used in other software).
